Selling Your Home This Spring? Make Sure To Check These Items Off Your To-Do List First!

When you are selling your home, there is a lot to do—and it is easy for your to-do list to grow to a point that it can seem never ending.

But while there may be some tasks on your home selling checklist that are more “nice to do’s” than “must do’s,” there are others that you absolutely will want to accomplish before you put your home on the market.

So the question is, what, exactly, are those “must do” home selling tasks?

A recent article from realtor.com outlined the top things sellers will definitely want to do before listing selling their homes, including:

  • Find a great real estate agent. The home selling process is a complex one. And if you want the process to go smoothly, you need an expert to walk you through it—which is why finding a great real estate agent should be at the very top of your to-do list.

  • Declutter. When potential buyers come to look at your house, they want to get a sense of the space—not a sense of your stuff. Before you start showing your home, make sure to declutter your home—including both visible areas (like counters, tables, and shelves) and less visible areas (like closets and cabinets).

  • Repaint with more neutral tones. You may love your bold accent wall. But if the color doesn’t connect with a potential buyer, it can make it hard for them to picture themselves in the space—and may prevent them from making an offer. Neutral colors (like gray, tan, or off-white) are more universally appealing—so aim to repaint your walls in more neutral tones before you list your home.

If you are thinking about selling let's connect. We can offer valuable insights into what buyers are looking for in this red hot real estate market and what other sellers are doing to maximize their return-on-investment from the sale of their home.
